This fine imported rum has its roots in tropical Belize. It is very aromatic rum with lots of flavor. Some described the rum's nose as floral because of the aroma reminds of hibiscus and papaya fruit. If tasted straight, One Barrel Rum is quite smooth without a bite to it, followed with a slight taste of molasses. The molasses flavor isn't overpowering, but nicely sitting in the background. There may be no better aperitif for an outdoor spring meal than a glass of dry rosé. Then again, I would not stick my nose up at a chilled Kir, either. Plymouth Gin was started in 1973. Plymouth makes their gin on an ancient site, a 16th-century Dominican Friary where Miles Standish and the Pilgrim stayed the night before they set out for America.
